Prayer Request

A lot of work is being done today interacting with insurance to determine the course of David's rehab for the near future. Changes are in store, and we are praying for insurance to be willing to provide for David to be able to get the best physical therapy he can in order to get back his full function. What we are hoping for is that once he is discharged from English Oaks that he will be able to return THERE on an outpatient basis (and there are lots of reasons for that - quality of care, continuity of care, advice of his current physical therapists, etc.). From what we understand at this point the chance of that is slim to none, but his therapists and he are making calls today to advocate for this. Please pray that whatever the outcome is it will be in David's best interest in terms of full recovery.

Today he sees his neurologist to talk about his future in terms of a number of things including possible seizure activity and whether or not (or when) he will be able to drive again. So our focus yet this week is entirely neurological (rehab and info), but next week it will shift as he sees his cardiologist for the first time since leaving Memorial Hospital and will be talking about further testing and heart surgery.

Thank you for the specific prayer requests. Dealing with insurance companies can be so exhausting. If at first you don't succeed; try,try again.
Has there been any sign of seizure activity, or is it a precaution since the stroke?
Thanks again for being so great at keeping us up to date on what's going on in your life.

Hello Heidi,
I have just today heard about your Blog, and have read all of your postings since David's stroke.
My daughter is homeschooled through Hickman Charter, and we have known David as our resident math wiz for some years now, and Carolyn has had him as math teacher in some of the special classes.
I do not feel I know David very well, but he has always struck me as being compassionate, kind and gentle as well as being a great teacher. I feel from reading your blog that I know him better now! I also feel that I know you and your family as well.
Needless to say, David's stroke was a huge shock to many of us at the school. He and your whole family have been in our thoughts and prayers ever since, and I am happy to let you know that in a non-intrusive way.
I think that David is truly blessed to have had a stroke which will save his life, and a wife who gives him so much to live for. You are an amazing woman. Blessings and prayers,
