Birthday Wishes and Quiz

It's just past midnight in my time zone, so I want to be the first to wish a happy birthday to my "twins" Nethe and Keith and Lawerence and Joan!! What a great day we were born on: two-cubed, three-cubed! Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, I hope it will be a wonderful day for you!

Here's a little math quiz for everyone else. Keith and I are going from being prime to being palindromic. It is the only time in our lives this will happen. How old are we? (I can't help it. I'm a math teacher. It goes with the territory!)

I know how old you are without playing your silly game....29 right?

That's at least what I'm telling everyone this year!

It helps that I know how old you are! But I did learn something in the process... :-) At least you are not "binary palindromic" - ha! That was kinda fun. :-)

Happy birthday H! I hope it was a good one. By the way, I don't plan on doing your math quiz because I refuse to believe that you are no longer in your prime.

What fun and family I have! :-)

I hope to stay in my prime regardless of numbers. Twenty-nine sounds great right about now!

Paula, I got to work with Catherine one-on-one today and will again tomorrow as we get ready for the semester to begin - whew! I'm enjoying getting to know her. Boy does this project (CalTeach) add a level of busyness to our semester, though!

By the way, Mike and Amy had a bid accepted today! If we get the one accepted that we have in now (i.e. if the appraisal is acceptable to the sellers), we will end up about 5 houses from each other!

Sounds to me like you have reached the ripe young age of 44.

Palindromic because it reads the same forward and back and following 43... prime because it can only be divided by one and itself.

In my wish of "many more" is that you attain at least 7 more palindromic milestones including "eleventy-one" like dear old Bilbo.

Alas, if you do indeed see 7 more palindromes, none will ever again be proceeded by a prime.

Happy Birthday and may God Bless!

Heidi,
Great to hear you and Cat are getting to work together. She and her family are very good friends of ours and she is always trying to fine tune her teaching and getting students interested in science/math. We love camping with her and her family, she's very knowledgeable about the great outdoors, especially bugs...which the kids love.

Exciting news about the house prospects... it would be great if your family and Amy's ended up so close together. How cool is that!

Oh, what a mathematically sweet birthday wish, Uncle D! I'll shoot for at least eleventy-one! I love how you extended the problem! I'm recording extra credit for you!

Yes, Paula, wouldn't it be a trip if Amy and I ended up in the same neighborhood?! Our appraisal was supposed to have taken place today - and be posted Monday. Then we'll see what the sellers think of it . . .

I can just see Catherine getting excited about bugs with the kids! She seems like a kick!
