Short is Good

Here we are, all, by day; by night we’re hurled
By dreams, each one, into a several world.

(Dreams by Robert Herrick c.1684)

There is a lot about this little poem that I like. In general I enjoy poems that are short, that rhyme and that tickle my brain in some way. According to those criteria this poem bats 1000 in my book.

Last night I was hurled into a "several world" like never before - and here I am, this morning, trying to get back into where I really am! I think I'm somewhere in between. Is there a name for that?

I've had that too sometimes. I think it has to do with what stage of sleep you are in (probably still REM) when you wake up, how intense the dream was, and what triggered the dream! (I don't know of a name for it.) I find it to be a GREAT feeling when the dream has been a good one - a feeling I like to hang onto and have follow me through the day, but from your comment I'm not getting the feeling yours was a good one - bummer! I hope you'll be able to shake it and find your way into a better "several world" tonight. :-)
